CONVENTIONS OF AN ALBUM DIGIPAK

An image with artist central is used so that the audience can easily identify who the album is by. An album title is prominent and is placed so that it doesn't distract the audience's attention from the main image. The colour white has been used to match the white doves so that it blends in but also stands out. The doves symbolise purity and good spirit, they also project the religious connotations. The Italian Catholic style writing has been used to tie in with the idea of doves and the flowers around her head appear to imitate Jesus Christ, looking slightly like a halo. The size of the font for the artists name is larger and bolder than the title of the album, showing the importance of each bit of text. The repeating roses connote love and the colour red warning danger. These help frame the image and the facing doves help to create symmetry within the framing of the composition.

The back cover is self reflexive of the front showing the construction of it the digipak and the process the production company went through to create the image. This is unconventional of album covers but is becoming conventional of a postmodern album. Again the image is central with the list of tracks in the same place as the title which creates continuity within the digipak. The colour of the text and font is matched with the front. In the top right hand corner there is the music label "Sony Music" and "EPIC" which is a sub label. These have also been put in white, again to create continuity with the colour. In the bottom right hand corner there is a bar code and above, in small font the website address. Above that we can see the copyright information also in white.

The dove from the front cover has been made into a graphic print. The colour red has been continued from the roses that surround the artist to continue the theme of love and danger. At the bottom you can see the EPIC label in white to subtly blend in and again the copyright information goes around the edge of the CD itself. following the conventions. The colours, style and ideology have been continued right throughout this digipak to create continuity linking the products together.
